“Bad Credit” Furniture Financing (Top 14 Options)

Amber Brooks 3/26/18

While you could save money by not buying furniture for your home, you’d soon grow tired of sitting on the floor, eating over the sink, or sleeping on just a mattress. A home should be a sanctuary, not a place of discomfort and discontent.

You may think you can’t afford furniture, but furnishing your home doesn’t have to be a financial nightmare. There are a variety of financing options you can take advantage of. Even with poor credit, you can still get financing through a furniture store, a personal loan, or a credit card.

We’ve outlined 14 options that get you financing to buy furniture for your home, and some can even help improve your credit score if you make your payments on time.

In-Store Furniture Financing (Options #1-4)

Even with bad credit, you can get financing directly from certain furniture stores. The following stores provide payment plans for customers with all types of credit:

1. FlexShopper offers lease-to-own financing on thousands of items, including furniture for every room, with flexible credit requirements. FlexShopper requires no money down from qualified applicants but may require a small deposit and/or payment from a small portion of users. You’ll need to earn at least $1,000 a month and have a bank account to qualify.

2. Jack’s Warehouse provides financing with no credit check. You might also qualify for no-interest payments for the first 90 days. For financing, you’ll need a checking account and proof of six months’ employment. Jack’s Warehouse will ship anywhere in the contiguous U.S.

3. Bob’s Discount Furniture lets customers select a monthly payment plan that works for them, and the No-Credit-Needed Payment Option offers the chance to build a good credit history. This option can be applied for online but can’t be used for online purchases. My Bob’s Card requires a credit check before offering a line of credit.

4. Furniture Mart has three financing options, all easily accessed online. Special financing via a Furniture Mart USA Credit Card is available for anywhere from six to 60 months. Furniture Mart’s leasing plan has a flexible payment schedule with no minimum credit score necessary. There’s also a layaway option that requires a 25% downpayment.

The downside of store financing is the potentially high interest rates attached. You could strain your budget paying interest over time. You’re also limited by the furniture store’s policy and its various requirements. Before applying, read through the details of the plan so that you know exactly what you’re signing up for.

Personal Loans for Bad Credit (Options #5-9)

Rather than store-specific financing, you can get a more general personal loan for some extra cash that can be used at any furniture store you like. The following five lenders have been reviewed by our experts and rated as helpful options for you:

Remember that these credit card companies will have to check your credit in order to approve you. With a credit card, your purchasing power increases, allowing you to buy more than just furniture. Of course, this is borrowed money that you’ll have to pay back because you don’t want interest payments to pile up on you. As long as you make your payments on time, however, you can avoid paying interest entirely.

Furnish Your Home Affordably

With these financing options, you can stop sleeping on the floor and rest in affordable comfort in your very own bed, sofa, or oh-so-cozy armchair. Start designing your home the way you want it by financing your furniture purchases using any of the 14 resources we’ve recommended.

Whether it’s from the store itself, a personal loan, or a credit card company, you have choices for financing — even with poor credit history. No matter what your credit score is, you can still get the furniture you want and deserve by taking advantage of these generous borrowing options. Choose wisely!
